This is my favorite restaurant in Devils Lake. Good steaks and decent ribs. The decor is a western theme with some buffalo and deer head mounts. The boys really enjoyed that. The wait staff was helpful and pleasant. This is one place we try to hit in Devils Lake.

Excellent steaks and great service from the staff. (the receipt says Sam but the server was female so maybe Samantha?). The food was outstanding with the tenderest steaks cooked to perfection. The food and the wine list was not expensive and the ambience was very good too with the old barn setting. This restaurant was a pleasant surprise after a long day's drive.

Had a great business dinner hear tonight. Decor was good, service was good, food was great. The chicken dumpling soup was very good - ate it up. I had the NY strip steak medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. Great flavor too. Great local business - if you are in town I recommend giving it a try

Best food in Devils Lake by far. Great service and fun atmosphere! Highly recommend The Ranch!

This is the best restaurant in DVL, hands down. The steaks and BBQ are well-executed, but be sure to order the delicious tater tot hot dish as a starter and pass it around the table. Where the heck else can you get tater tot hot dish in a restaurant?! While service is very friendly, on our last visit our server was new and very young and green. While very nice, she had utterly no clue about drinks or the menu, could answer no questions coherently and was sadly unprofessional. Management needs to train the staff before sending them out to wait tables so that the service fits the quality of the great food.

***I was just contacted by the owner on this date.*** WOW! took responsibility and was very gracious. How nice to know that I was heard., I was not blamed, was respected and have a much higher opinion of this establishment. I hope the experience below was a fluke..... What a miserable experience. TWO HOURS to get our food. Stared at 7pm, escaped at 9 pm on a Saturday. Beef tips so tough you can not get a knife thru. Weird taste like a burnt deglazed pan was part of the gravy. Shrimp oily and covered in underdone bacon. My steak was perfect, probably would have ate a shoe by that point! , We were told no specials (BBQ-smokehouse specials) yet tables that seated after us got specials ate and LEFT before we got out entree's. Oddity, chick in peach pants walks around with a cup of coffee, in a busy establishment doing absolutely nothing. Not helping staff, not greeting customers, getting in the way of clearing tables. What is she? We would have ordered drinks, dessert but with Christmas in just a few months, ran for the hills. To be fair, poor waitress tried, she got us free pop overs and a free glass of wine.. She was obviously embarrassed, but no one else cared. .

Bartender was very crabby. Told me she hated my ring tone on my phone when I got a message. Ordered my steak medium rare but it was so rare it was mooing. It had so much gristle, I couldn't eat most of it. Salad had 300 croutons on it. No need for that many or is there?? Wild rice side was terrible. Don't get that. Wings were good.

Stay in Devils lake 4-5 days every fall. Went to the ranch twice on this stay. Great service and really good food. I had the pan fried walleye the first evening which was really good. Second night had the Cajun pasta which was ok. Other than that I highly recommend this place if your in Devils lake area.

I ordered the prime rib, and what was supposed to be medium rare was beyond medium. Bland au gratin, fair soup. Nice waitress, though. But when meat is your gig and you don't do it well, there isn't much to recommend.

I'm disappointed because I asked for a glass of "house Pinot Noir." I was told they had this and then when we got our bill it was $12/glass. As a former bartender, and I'm not cheap, that's an expensive glass of "house" wine. When I asked the owner about it, he said,"No, we don't have a house Pinot Noir and we are going to sell you what you ask for!" What?! My husband heard all this! Well... I asked for the house Pinot, was told they had it, but then they charged me for something they don't have as a house wine all along anyways and then it's my fault! Lol Keep in mind... This is the same guy that told us to be "honest about our visit!" Maybe you guys should be more honest and more credible and not make the customer feel horrible! We won't be back and we will let future military training classes at the base know not to go here as well.

8 of us ate here last Friday and Saturday night. They accommodated us having no reservations. The service was quick and upbeat. The appetizers and drinks showed up quickly. The offerings covered all in our group from 12 to 67 years old. Owner stopped by our table to check on us and was genial and genuinely intested in our feedback thus far. The Ranch is a real diamond in the rough.

*The menu and address are different than listed here on yelp* Seating was less than desirable. Sat next to a large, loud party of 12. Bummer Wait staff needs more training on being less intrusive, authentically friendly- not canned and just have a better sense of timing. Was interrupted no less than 4 times asking of there were plates she could take away. Ugh I had a house salad that had a lot of brown greens in it, other than that it was fine. I was unable to finish my salad as the main entree came out. Poor timing. Waitress was a little pushy in just getting us our food and not respecting the fact that we were out to dinner for an enjoyable evening, not to be rushed. Dinner rolls were just like White Castle burger buns. Small, squishy and wet. No thanks The prime rib was awesome! Tasted as if it had been smoked. Great piece of meat. Boyfriend had the Walleye. Nice fillet, but super heavy breading that really masked the fish. Overall the place was fine for a little town in North Dakota

It's ok at best. Steak was good. The only thing I did not care for was the atmosphere. I didn't know whether to take my grandma with me or a friend for a good conversation. To be known for their steaks it was not the best steak I have eaten or the worst.

The best dinner spot in Devils Lake! If you go to the bar, try a Fargo Woodchipper Ale. Salmon entree is very good. I've dined here six times at least and have never been disappointed.

Excellent smoked prime rib, along with delicious Walleye. Service was annoying in that the server tried to remove every plate on the table throughout dinner before we were actually finished. Wine selection was good for being in Devils Lake, and overall ambience was good with the exception that it was overly loud. The food rated higher than a three but service and Restaraunt brought it down. Also, the online menu is complete incorrect, and directions were only off by 4.8 miles.

What a let down. Told me the BBQ chicken was slow smoked - the skin was not brown and a miniscule hint of smoke. Friend had a salmon dish that he did say was one of the best he had ever had. The Desert Tray looks so good and we inquired about one desert the waiter said "a lady comes in Tuesday and makes them" well today was Tuesday and it was frozen in the middle and stale. Next time I will ask "which Tuesday and which year?" . Was here for a week and would not go back.

Was in Devils Lake on business and came across Ranch Steakhouse. Had the filet with white cheddar potatoes and glazed carrots. Also had a salad. Portions are great and the steak was tender and very good. I would definitely recommend this place. Prices are very reasonable as well.

Most excellent food, great service, the place is clean and very pleasant. I was there last weekend and had a wonderful steak and a nice dessert. I did get their flagship steak and had a couple drinks. The bill with a generous tip was over $60, but worth it.
